Salomé
: Instances
A reformatted passage from Oscar Wilde’s play, studying its language and repetition.
And What Is This?
After reading Salomé, I was drawn to the repetition used in certain passages, as well as the continuous rolling dialogue in others. I wanted to reformat and typeset a section of the play with certain visual rules to exemplify these traits of Wilde’s writing. In one version, words that are used more in the text are bolder, and more unique words fade into obscurity. In another version, every word appears once, and the subsequent uses of that word are lost.
