Book
2025
A book that explores and reframes the content of a medical information leaflet, satirising it and prompting a new reading.
DOSE started from the idea of creating something that interprets. I found within a medical leaflet separate narratives — kindness, where I left most pages blank, commands and instructions I pitted against each other, a static of inflammatory words, and jargon, which I separated by syllable. The designs underwent many changes to appropriately tell every narrative.
The book retains much. Considering its context, Gill Sans became part of the idea that the original leaflet was not ‘to be read’. The design of the book and its content comment on the original leaflet using only itself. Watch the critical study essay here.
